The team was founded in 1988 in Alma-Ata ( USSR, now Republic of Kazakhstan).
In 1989 "Gratsia" ( the first name of the team) qualified for the first women's football National Championship.
In 1990 "Gratsia" was renamed "Merey" ( on the name of team's sponsor). The team took the 7th place in the 1st Women's National Championship.
In 1991, as the Soviet Union collapsed, the team moved to Russia. The new name CSK VVS ( it's the abbreviation, which can be translated as: Central Sports Club of the Air Force) was adopted.
Since 1992 CSK VVS is based in Samara.
